The fitness industry, and specifically the weight-loss industry, is a multi-billion dollar affair filled with all sorts of gimmicks and gadgets meant to shed away pounds with guaranteed results. In my experience, very few of these “Miracle Cures” have any validity or effect, and the vast majority end up in yard sales or auction websites.
In general, I tend to focus more on the tried and true techniques of weight-loss for myself and as advice for patients. Although it has fallen out of vogue, good old fashioned hard work is still the most effective means of achieving the results you desire.
However, there is one particular weight-loss strategy that is a simple trick that I can guarantee will shave off a few pounds from your frame and lead to a healthier life. I will list the simple steps as follows;
1) Open your Refrigerator
2) Take out all of the cans/bottles of soda
3) Open the cans/bottles of soda
4) Dump all of the soda down your kitchen sink drain
5) Replace the soda with water
Simple, right? So why do the majority of people not follow this trick?
While dumping out the soda in your refrigerator and replacing the soda you consume with water will shed pounds off of your body (not to mention aid in regulating your blood sugar) the majority of the populace find this concept to be the most difficult to embrace. From an early age we are bombarded by advertisements, product placements and “deals” meant to convince us that soda is not only delicious, but also our constitutional right and a true piece of Canadiana/Americana.
In truth, there are few culprits more linked to the pervasiveness of obesity and Diabetes in North America. Soda is rife with sugar, acids and preservatives which convey no nutritional value, and is essentially empty calories.
So ditching soda for water is the easiest, most difficult method of shedding pounds that I, as a member of the health-care industry, can possibly recommend. I guarantee you will lose weight if you do so.
Now, the only question remaining is Do Think You Can Do It?
